Tinnitus Natural Remedies

Tinnitus is a problem that affects about 50 million people in the world, usually adults. The severity ranges from simple irritation to something so severe it ruins the quality of a person’s life. Tinnitus is more commonly thought of as a symptom rather than a disease, like a fever that might signal a coming sickness. Even though it may not be a disease, people want to eliminate the annoying symptom of tinnitus, using natural remedies if possible.

Tinnitus is described as a ringing, buzzing, hissing, irritating sound heard in the absence of external sound. A common cause of tinnitus is the exposure of a person to loud noises and music. Everyday, we encounter instances of hearing loud sounds such as the beeps of cars, blaring music, whistles and such. According to doctors, listening to our mp3s in high volume can contribute to tinnitus, so be wary of how loud you listen to music. It can also be caused by allergy problems, blood circulation problems, diabetes and may be a symptom of Menieres Disease (disorder in the inner ear that affects balance and hearing).

Sometimes bodily and health imbalances cause tinnitus. Stress, improper diet and physical neglect are possible factors that contribute to ringing in the ears.

In the language of the Chinese, tinnitus is a disruption of the balance of the body, the normal energy flow in our body, an imbalance of the Yin and Yang.

Whatever the cause, tinnitus natural cures and remedeis are well worth trying. Here are some natural treatments you can use:

Tinnitus Acupuncture

This is traditional Chinese method of curing imbalances. Fine needles are inserted into the target spot, sometimes coated with endorphins and enkephalins that relax and relieve the body of pain. This method generally works for people, as their bodily respond to the chemicals released and make them feel relaxed and experience a sense of wellness. Some patients may not easily respond to this treatment, and may require several Acupuncture sessions to generate the desired effect. Nevertheless, Acupuncture is natural and a relaxing way to deal with Tinnitus.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is another natural remedy to try. People report benefits from Rosemary, Cypress, Lemon and Rose Oils. Scents can be added to massage oils, making a massage doublely beneficial. Massaging is a good method for relieving muscle tension, and the relaxing the whole body as well. Massaging may well reduce tinnitus as it relieves the tensions in the muscles of the jaw and scalp around the ears.

Tinnitus Training Therapy

TRT is a counseling technique that uses a diversion of focus to veer persons away from focusing on the irritating effects of Tinnitus. According studies, TRT is more effective than any of kind of Tinnitus counseling there is.

Sound Therapy

Sound therapy involves listening to natural sounds from the environment to relax the ears and will act as a distraction from the irritating noises that is caused by tinnitus. It doesn’t eliminate the problem but makes it less annoying.

Must-have Diet

Changing eating habits and diets are recommended for a person having tinnitus. There are foods that should be avoided in order not to worsen the situation, such as sugar, salts and processed foods. Switch to fresh fruit and vegetables and healthy protein diet.

Eating pineapples can also reduce inflammation. Take in foods that contain Niacin, Magnesium and Zinc. These are minerals allow more oxygen and nutrients to enter your body and reduce hearing loss.

There are other herbal remedies and minerals that are suggested, but they may work differently for each person. But all these forms of diet is natural, and will add nutrients to the body. Any of the natuaral remedies mentioned here are well worth trying to end the ringing in your ears.

Tinnitus Acupuncture

Tinnitus is often referred to as a symptom of an imbalanced health and lifestyle problems rather than a sickness. People might point it out as similar to a headache that will eventually go away. Nevertheless, people are looking for solutions to get rid of this problem and avoid hearing that irritating sound all over again. Tinnitus Acupuncture is one of the alternative treatments that can be helpful in getting relief from the constant ringing in the ears
.
Tinnitus is simply an irritating, ringing or buzzing noise in the ear in the absence of external noise. There is an obvious cause of having Tinnitus and that is exposure to loud noise. At the modern world we live right now, we are exposed everyday to loud noise such as cars on the street (with their constant beeps), whistles, banging noises and such.

Loud music can also be a factor in causing tinnitus. People are generally music-loving and enjoy listening to music whenever they can. This is alright as long as they listen with the volume at a reasonable level. Too many people listen with the music really cranked to top volume. Doctors don’t really recommend listening to music with the volume high up, as this will irritate the ears and can damage hearing (although you don’t feel it). It can not only cause ringing in the ears, but over time can cause permanent deafness.

Loud noise/music is not the only cause of tinnitus. Others include poor nutrition as well as complicated nervous system issues. Before actually getting a treatment, it’s a good idea to explore possible causes.

Acupuncture is the Chinese language of treatment using needles. These needles are incredibly thin and fine and are inserted into the skin – sometimes where the problem resides and sometimes at a distance. The aim is to rebalance the flow of “chi” (life force) through the body’s energy channels (meridians).

Tinnitus acupuncture is a good option to explore when common treatments don’t seem to work. Visit an Acupuncture facility that caters to tinnitus and be open-minded about the possibilities and effects of the treatment. Consult with the person who will perform the acupuncture on you and listen to what he/she tells you.

Acupuncture for tinnitus doesn’t produce immediate results and may take several or more sessions before you can see and sense actual changes. Needles will be stuck in different parts of the ear to release the chemicals around it. The good news is that the needles are so fine you bearly feel them. Most people find the overall experience of acupuncture relaxing.

Bear in mind that tinnitus cases differ in people. They can also differ in the level of response the Acupuncture Treatment. Some will respond to the treatment and will get that relaxed and well-balanced feeling after undergoing several treatments. Some will feel a slight relief and some may not have any reaction to the treatment at all. And some may have a complete cure.

Most often the last option requires more time with the procedure. Those chemicals that enter your body aren’t there for nothing; they may have already relaxed you in some ways without realizing it. Your body may need to adjust the chemicals.

Tinnitus acupuncture is a natural way of curing acupuncture and you don’t really need to worry about side effects and all that. The only thing to check is to be certain that the acupuncture you go to uses disposable needles to completely avoid the risk of blood borne disease. This is a natural healing process, and rebalances the state of your body to enhance your health.

If you hear a ringing, buzzing, whooshing, hissing or a whistling sound in your ears even when you are in a very quiet environment, then you might just have ‘ringing ears’. Tinnitus (medical term for ringing ears), is characterized by a perception of sound inside the ears or inside the head rather than from external sources. There are various causes of tinnitus and identifying the root of the condition of an affected person is one of the first steps in the treatment of ringing ears.

Those tinnitus caused by the obstruction of earwax in the ear canal can just clean their ears. In other cases of tinnitus, like the one that is caused by the impaired circulation of blood, people can cure this by simply taking remedies everyday. Natural remedies like herbs are very much helpful and reliable. Plants such as Ginkgo Biloba can help improve blood circulation, thus, ringing ears will be lessened. Taking forty mg of the dried ginkgo biloba daily or one hundred twenty mg (1 to 2 tsp three times every day) of the concentrated standardized extract is recommended. The treatment will take effect slowly but the minimizing of ringing ears is guaranteed. Ginkgo biloba works best when combined with another herb which is Black cohosh. Individually, black cohosh is also used in treating the condition. Its decoction should be taken two to three times every day, three ml of tincture. The crushed root of black cohosh is also used for the treatment and is taken in two capsules.

Tinnitus treatment using vitamins may not instantly remove the annoying condition. But all tinnitus-affected people who took vitamins felt a great decrease of the frequency and the seriousness of their ringing ears. These vitamins are: Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and bioflavonoids. Taking anti-oxidants will also help alleviating an improper blood flow in the head and neck regions. This blood flow may have affected the circulation of blood in the ears that could have caused tinnitus.
There are some cases of tinnitus where it is caused by stress or traumatic events. This kind of condition is treated with hypnotherapy. Together with other ways of treating ringing ears, hypnotherapy can be a highly effective remedy.

Curing tinnitus using Laser Treatment has yet to be proven. Some patients who have become so hopeless resort to this solution. Whether or not it really works, some still try it so as to experience immediate relief from the condition. Many people said it only gives a placebo effect, but many who also took laser treatment believe that it does.

Whatever you try to treat ringing ears, it’s a good idea to consult professionals to avoid any risk or any side effects that might possibly be associated with some treatments.

Tinnitus is a condition in which noise that originated in the ear or in the head rather than from the external environment is perceived. A person who has this condition hears a ringing, buzzing, roaring, clicking, whistling, hissing, or squealing. Normally, tinnitus does not pose as a dangerous or serious difficulty but may also be an indication of an underlying illness like blood-vessel disorders or an inner-ear disorder called Meniere’s disease. Tinnitus is commonly caused by age-related loss of hearing, exposure to deafening noises, and obstruction of earwax in the ear. This condition is at best a bothersome nuisance to most people who have it. At worst it can ruin the quality of a person’s life.People look for treatment, and it’s not surprising that part of that search is to look for herbs that relieve tinnitus.

Although anyone can acquire it, some are more likely to be bothered than others. Most at risk are white males aged 65 above.

There are two kinds of Tinnitus: Objective and Subjective. In Objective Tinnitus, a doctor may hear the noise in an assessment. On the other hand, Subjective Tinnitus only the affected person can hear the sound. In order to cure Tinnitus, the underlying disease (if there is) is the one to be treated. If there is no underlying condition, treatment is more problamatic. Here are some herbal remedies to consider.

Ginkgo Biloba is found to be helpful in reducing the difficulty caused by Tinnitus. Many studies have proven ginkgo biloba standardized extracts to cure tinnitus. The standardized extracts can improve blood circulation and has no side effects. Forty milligrams (mg) of dried ginkgo biloba or 120 mg of concentrated, standardized extracts should be taken every day. The herb may take effect gradually in weeks or months.

A plant that also improves blood circulation is the mistletoe herb. Three cups of cold water and three tsp. of the herb should be mixed. The mixture should be left still overnight. In the next morning, the mixture should be strained and warmed up. Three cups of it, unsweetened, should be drunk daily.

Another herb is sesame seeds. Chinese herbalists have been using sesame seeds as cure for Tinnitus.

Black cohosh, a plant native to USA, is used as a dietary supplement and also a solution. Three ml of its decoction should be taken. The plant’s root can also be used by pulverizing and taking two capsules of it. Black cohosh, combined with ginkgo biloba gives finest results according to many herbalists.

Goldenseal is also helpful as an herbal medicine for Tinnitus but pregnant women are not advised to take a dose of it. Herbalists also advise the combination of black cohosh and goldenseal with a 1:1 ratio.

Spinach and other foods that contain zinc can decrease the condition because zinc deficiency is one of the causes of tinnitus. Examples zinc-containing foods are: papaya, collards, cucumbers, string beans and cowpeas.

Another herb, the Lesser Periwinkle is known to help diminish Meniere’s disease as it contains a compound called vincamine. Twenty mg of dried leaves of lesser periwinkle should be taken three times daily. Overdosage of the herb is reported to cause serious side effects such as acute drop in blood pressure. The use of this herb should be supervised by a professional.

Finally, eating sunflower seeds and drinking brewed tea from the hulls, according to an old Chinese remedy, can lessen tinnitus.

There is no one way to stop ears ringing and something that works great for one person may not work at all for another. It is also true that for many people the ringing never goes away completely. In these difficult situations it usually is possible to reduce the noise to a tolerable level and adapt some coping mechanisms.

But of course it’s best to stop the ringing completely. Here are some remedies to try.

A common cause of tinnitus is exposure to loud noises so the first thing to do is to protect your hearing from loud noises. This means wearing hearing protection at work if you work around noisy equipment or when you use power tools or a lawn mower at home.

*************************************************************************************************************

Holistic Tinnitus Cure

*************************************************************************************************************

Another common source of hearing damage and tinnitus is playing loud music through headphones. Unfortunately, many people have developed the habit of continually listening to their music at loud volumes. This is not good – it ultimately leads to hearing loss and tinnitus. If you already have ringing in your ears it’s especially important to only listen to music at modest playback levels.

Caffeine aggravates ringing in the ears for many people. It certainly is worth trying to cut it out of your diet for a while to see if you notice any difference.

Another common culprit is aspirin. Many drugs can cause ringing in the ears but aspirin is the one that almost everyone has in their medicine cabinet and some people have the habit of popping them for every little ache and pain. If that describes you, cutting out the aspirin is one of the first things you should try to help your ringing ears.

Also check you blood pressure. Many times there are no symptoms at all associated with high blood pressure, but on occasion it can cause ringing in the ears. In this case, getting the blood pressure down helps the tinnitus.

Stress aggravates tinnitus so it’s not surprising that stress relieving activities such as meditation can help tinnitus. Meditation is one of those things that we know is good for us but few of us take the time to do. In my experience, even 5 minutes a day can help (and not just with tinnitus).

A useful strategy that doesn’t eliminate the ringing in the ears but makes it easier to live with is using another sound to mask or hide the tinnitus. Although at first blush it doesn’t make much sense that adding one noise to another would make the situation better, the fact is for many people it does.

Some people like to listen to music (at a low volume, of course), but others find it’s easier to put up with the tinnitus if they just have something like a fan running in the background.

As you’ve seen on other pages on this site, there are several causes of tinnitus. Often we never find a specific cause and there is no simple tinnitus test that explains all situations, but if a situation seems unusual there are several tests that can be done.

Evaluation of tinnitus is often undertaken by a physician. If someone complains of ringing in the ears on of the first things they’ll do is check for exposure to loud noises as a possible cause. At the same time, they’ll review any medications a person is taking to make sure the ringing ears aren’t a side effect of a medication.
After that, the first testing will probably be a physical exam. A key point is to make sure the person’s blood pressure is normal. A simple ear exam looking in the ear with an otoscope can reveal some causes of ringing in the ears.

************************************************************************************************

Get Rid of the Sound in Your Ears Naturally… Guaranteed!

************************************************************************************************

The simplest is ear wax build up, in which case the tinnitus is cleared by cleaning the ears.

Other problems that might show up on exam are fluid trapped behind the ear drum, an ear infection or injury to the ear drum.

Beyond this, a physician will also listen with a stethoscope for abnormal noises over the major blood vessels in the neck. These noises are caused by hardening of the arteries disturbing blood flow and sometimes a person can hear them because the vessels pass so close to the ears. This type of tinnitus is referred to as subjective tinnitus.

In addition to this basic evaluation, the most common test done for tinnitus is a hearing exam (audiometry). Hearing loss is often associated with tinnitus. Some researches think that may be because if areas of the brain that normally process signals from the ear don’t get any messages they “fill in” their own, creating the ringing or buzzing noise people find so annoying. Whether or not the theory is correct, it’s a good idea to get the test done.

A rare cause of tinnitus is a tumor along the nerve to the ear associated with hearing. In this situation the ringing is usually only on one side. If a physician suspects this, they may order a CAT scan or MRI

Anyone bothered by tinnitus may want to consider tinnitus vitamins as part of their overall treatment plan. Vitamins alone may not the ringing in your ears, but a deficiency in one or more vitamins can make the symptoms worse. And many people do, in fact, have a dramatic improvement when they supplement with vitamins or correct a vitamin deficiency.

As always, it’s best to get your vitamins from a healthy diet. For most people this means lots of fruit and vegetables, moderate amounts of lean protein (more chicken breast, less sausage), and small amounts healthy fats such as olive oil. It’s impossible to replace all the nutrients in vegetables with a capsule. However, taking some vitamin and mineral supplements can be part of a healthy lifestyle and part of a tinnitus treatment plan.

**********************************************************************************************

Permanently Eliminate Tinnitus without Drugs or Surgery?

**********************************************************************************************

A reasonable first step is to take a good, overall multivitamin and mineral supplement.

Next, consider adding additional B vitamins. There are several types of B vitamins and a couple of them are very important for nerve function so it’s not surprising that they may have a role in the cause of ringing in the ears. Two of the more important B vitamins are B6 and B12.

One interesting fact about B6 is that many people suffering from carpal tunnel (a problem related to pressure on the nerves at the wrist) get better after they supplement with B6. That implies that it may be helpful for other nerve problems.

It is possible to take too much B6, so never go above 150mg or so a day.

With regard to B12, a military study showed soldiers who were low in B12 had more difficulty with tinnitus after exposure to loud noises than soldiers with higher levels. It didn’t always work for treatment, but many people did improve after taking it.

Older people (who, by the way, are more likely to have tinnitus) often have low B12 levels because they have trouble absorbing it from their GI tract. This has real implications for treatment, since if they can’t absorb it, taking a pill by mouth won’t help. You can get around this by getting a test of B12 levels from a physician and getting shots if pills don’t help.

A way to avoid the shot is to take B12 in a sub lingual form, which is a form meant to be placed under the tongue and absorbed directly into the blood stream. You can find this over the counter at a health food store if your pharmacy doesn’t carry it.

Although not specific for tinnitus, a very high percentage of the population is deficient in vit D. There is a blood test you can get to check, or you can supplement with about 2000 units/day.

Magnesium is a mineral that is very important in nerve function, muscle contraction and the formation of bone. The association with nerve function is the reason to consider taking it if you have tinnitus, but there are a lot of good reasons to take it even if you don’t have ringing in your ears. 500mg/day is a reasonable dose. I also think it’s a good idea to take this with about 1000mg calcium. You can find several products that have this combination.

Other supplements worth trying are zinc and ginko.

All of these are over the counter and generally considered to be safe in reasonable doses, but as always it’s prudent to talk things over with you doctor, especially if you have other medical issues.

Tinnitus refers to a noise a person hears without an apparent source in the external world. In as much as it can be caused by many things, in the same way that many things can cause a fever or pain in the stomach, tinnitus is a symptom, not a disease.

Ringing it the ears is the common way of describing tinnitus, although the sound a person hears can have many different characteristics in different people. Some of the descriptions people with tinnitus use to describe what they hear include: buzzing, humming, clicking, crackling, swooshing, static-like and, of course, ringing.

Whatever the character of the sound, there are many different causes of tinnitus. In the end, though, a specific cause is never found. Research continues, but the in the meantime focus is on ruling out some treatable causes and otherwise treat the symptom.

It helpful to think of two classes of tinnitus: objective and subjective.

With objective tinnitus, the patient actually is hearing a noise produced by their body. The most important cause of this type of tinnitus is a narrowing in one of the main arteries supplying the brain, the carotid artery.

The most common cause of such narrowing is hardening of the arteries. As the plaque build up, blood flow becomes turbulent, like water flowing in rapids, and sets up vibrations in the artery wall. A physician can hear these vibrations as a noise in the neck if he listens with a stethoscope. Since the carotid artery passes close to the ear, it’s not surprising that the patient may be able to hear it themselves.

This type of sound varies as with every heartbeat and people usually describe it as a “whoosh, whoosh” sound. Not to alarm you, but anyone with this type of tinnitus should check in with a physician because hardening of the arteries is a leading cause of stroke.

Another cause of subjective tinnitus is temporal-mandibular joint syndrome (TMJ). It this syndrome, tightness and spasm in the muscles of the jaw cause a number of symptoms. Pain is the most symptom, but spasms can cause noises arising from the joint.

The other classification of tinnitus is subjective. With subjective tinnitus, there is no actual sound from the body or elsewhere that the person hears.

Although there’s no source of the sound, it’s not imaginary. Functional brain scans show that people with tinnitus frequently have brain activity in the hearing areas of the brain even where there is no sound to hear. It appears that the brain is receiving signals through the hearing system even though there is no sound.

Common causes of tinnitus are chronic injury of the hearing mechanism from exposure to loud noises, wax in the ear canal, drug side effects (some common ones are listed else where).

Ringing in the ears is a common problem, affecting between 10% and 20% of older adults. The more official name of this symptom is tinnitus. The ears ringing cause varies considerably between people. I’ll discuss some of them here, but to “cut to the chase”, in most cases doctors don’t really know for sure what causes it .

Although people often use the term “ringing”, many people will use other descriptions such as hissing or crackling or swishing to describe the sounds they hear. My own tinnitus is a high pitched cricket-like noise in both ears. In fact, when it first started I thought I was hearing crickets.

A common cause of temporary ringing in the ears is exposure to loud noises – say being by a jack-hammer or attending a rock concert. If it’s a one time exposure, the ringing usually goes away after several hours. If exposure is repeated and prolonged, not only does the ringing persist but hearing can be permanently damaged. Eric Clapton is one of many performers who suffer from tinnitus and hearing loss related to his exposure to loud noises.

A simple cause of ears ringing is excess wax in the ear canal. The fancier name for ear wax is cerumen. In this case, a simple cleaning may take care of the problem.

You know this, but it bears repeating: don’t try to clean your ears with anything sharp or pointed. You can get ear cleaning kits at a drug store and a health food store may suggest ear “candling. ” I’ve never tried the latter but I know people who swear by it.

An ear infection or fluid trapped behind the ear drum is another cause of ear ringing. A decongestant and possibly antibiotics may help in this case.

Ringing in the ears is also a side effect on many drugs. The most common prescription drugs that can cause ear problems are quinidine, members of a class of antibiotics referred to as aminoglycocides and several chemotherapy drugs. There are others besides these, but these are the ones most likely to cause problems.

On the over the counter drug side of things there is one culprit everyone should be aware of: good ol’ aspirin. In high doses, aspirin is a well-recognized cause of ringing ears. This typically happens with doses above 10-12 standard aspirin tablets (325mg)/day, not the “baby” aspirin dose of 81mg that doctors recommend to some people with hardening of the arteries and other people.

Some people only notice tinnitus when they are in an extremely quiet environment. This is probably normal – or at least normal in today’s world. Some researchers think that it’s normal to hear a little background noise, the hearing equivalent of static on a phone line, but this normal ringing is only evident in very quiet environments.

Welcome to Tinnitus Miracle Answers

I imagine you’re visiting here because you or someone you care about suffers from tinnitus. You’re not alone. Unfortunately, tinnitus afflicts somewhere between 10% – 20% of adults. The chance of developing tinnitus increases as we age.

The symptom is a sound that no one else can hear. The character of the some varies from person to person. The most common description is that it’s a ringing sound, but others describe it as a buzzing or humming or swooshing or hissing or crackling or wind-blowing or static or…

There are many variations on the noise.

***********************************************************************************************************

The severity can range from mild annoyance to absolutely maddening. It can seem to come and go or it can be constant.

My own tinnitus story began a little over 2 years ago. I’m in my 60’s and was sitting out in my back yard on a very quiet night, just enjoying the evening. It was very quiet, but I thought I was hearing crickets. However, it wasn’t like crickets I had heard before. The sound seemed higher pitched. It had a higher frequency or something. It was the same in both ears and seemed to be coming from somewhere behind me.

It didn’t stop and it didn’t change as I moved my head.

At first it wasn’t bad and I only seemed to notice it when it was very quiet. But in very short order it became louder and more frequent and more annoying.

That’s when I began my search for information and help. It was a long process. I had a lot of different advice from different people. Eventually, I did get better. Not completely better, but enough that the ringing in my ears is something I can live with. Sometimes I don’t even notice it, especially when I’m engaged in doing something.

But when it gets quiet, it’s always there. Not as loud as it was at one point, but still there. Like a lot of things, I never realized how sweet pure silence was until I could no longer experience it. And I am glad I can hear.

Anyway, I decided to put this site together to make it easier for other who develop this problem to research it and get information and decide what they want to do. Don’t rely on anything you read here as medical advice, but I do hope you find the information helpful. And I hope your tinnitus goes away completely.
